As many know, Adam absolutely loves the L.A. Kings. He grew up playing sports but hockey was one that he simply fell in love with playing and watching. When we first met, I had been an Anaheim Ducks fan. Growing up a fan of anything Disney, naturally the Ducks were a team that I identified with.... not that I ever willingly watched a game of hockey. Nonetheless, if anyone were to ask me what hockey team I liked, I would have said the Ducks. Adam never liked (actually he hated) the idea of me being a Ducks "fan" and worked on converting me over the years. Me being kind of stubborn, it never happened until we got married. He said, "As the head of our household, I am asking you to be a Kings fan. You married into this." (true story) So, I accepted. Ever since, I have learned to really enjoy the team and going to the games.
A couple of weeks before his birthday, I had been pondering over what to get him when out of the blue he started talking about this Kings Insider blog he subscribes to and how the blogger had set up a suite for the subscribers of the blog. Tickets were only $75 a ticket (great price to be in a suite). They sold out of the tickets so fast that a 2nd suite was set up, and then a 3rd, and then a 4th because the tickets were being sold out within 10 minutes of the tickets being put up for sale. Thinking that there was no way the tickets were available any longer, I told Adam I was bummed that he didn't tell me about it sooner considering that his birthday was coming up and I could've gotten the tickets for him. I told him to check just in case. He proceeded to tell me that there was no way they would still be there but he looked anyway. As he logged onto the computer and then the blog, I said a little prayer, "Jesus, if it's your will, please allow us to get tickets for this game." When I was done praying, I looked up to a husband who had his eyes glued to the computer screen in awe. THERE WERE TICKETS LEFT! I thanked Jesus for this blessing and bought the tickets!
As the days approached for the game, Adam continued to get updates regarding the details of the night: Heidi Androl was going to be interviewing the blogger Rich Hammond in the suite and it would be aired on FOX during the second period, we were going to be able to meet players after the game, and BEST OF ALL, he was going to get a chance to shoot pucks on the ice before the game!
Finally, it was game day. Adam, Lily (dressed in Kings gear), and I got on the road at 3:30pm to arrive at the staples center by 5:30pm. We made it early and the night began. Adam was like a kid in a candy/toy store at Disneyland as we walked on the ice level of the stadium to take our shots. As we went up to our suite, we met Jim Fox (Kings announcer) in the elevator and throughout the night met Bailey (Kings mascot), and Heidi (Kings interviewer). The entire night was a blast (especially because Adam was so excited) and of course Lily was a perfect angel the entire time.
What a perfect gift for my husband. Thank you Jesus for this blessing for a man who is a blessing to me.

ReplyDeleteI totally know all about marrying a sports fanatic. My husband is a die-hard Red Sox fan, and me being from SoCal, I would have claimed to be an Angels fan, although I never really followed baseball until we started dating. He actually got together with our officiant without me knowing and snuck "I promise to always root for the Red Sox" into our wedding vows! That's how serious he is! lol
Jewels: Thanks you are so sweet! You look great too! I absolutely love reading your blog and seeing all of your pics! Tre, Aaliyah and Jaylin are getting so big! They are absolutely adorable! We miss you guys too :(
