Almost 10 Months Old

It is unbelievable to think that our newborn baby girl is not so newborn anymore. She is nearly a toddler and will be 10 months on Saturday, April 9th and quickly approaching a year on June 9th. Here are just some of the things she does that serves as constant reminders of her almost toddler self:

  • She babbles and sounds as if she's asking us a question; she'll point to something and say "Ah?" She says "mamamamama" and "dadadadada". One of our favorite things is when we hold up our hands and say "Heeeeey" or "Hiiiiii" she copies us no matter what she's doing.
  • Lily absolutely loves her walker that her Auntie got her for Christmas. She flies around the house ramming into walls, shins, feet, dog gates, dog water bowls (water everywhere) and even dogs when they aren't paying attention. Needless to say, we all need to be on guard these days. It never fails that when she's in her walker, she will find the diapers on the side of her pack'n play, pull them out, and sprinkle them around the house creating quite a nice trail.
  • She crawls around like crazy and can find ANYTHING that is left around the house. She fusses and may even cry a bit when that thing is a phone and we no longer want it wet from drool so we take it away.
  • Lily can feed herself baby snacks really easily now. She loves chopped up bananas! Even though she still has no teeth, she chomps away with her gums. While she chomps, she has to say "mumumumum." Recently, we celebrated my dad's birthday at a fish restaurant called Lure. I ordered Tilapia and wondered if Lily would like the taste so I gave her a small piece. About two seconds after I put it in her mouth, she gagged and then shivered! She was so grossed out. All of us at the table died laughing! Poor girl. Meanwhile, her daddy (NOT a fish lover) leaned over and whispered in her ear "That's my girl!" Like father like daughter I guess.
  •  She's starting to pay attention to and want to be with other babies. In our church's nursery, Adam and I watched her crawl up to a group of babies, make her presence known by saying "Aaah!" After they all looked at her (how could they not with that scream?), she proceeded to play with the same toy that they were playing with.
  • As I've mentioned before, Lily absolutely loves dogs!! Whenever we show her a book and ask where the doggie is, she points to it every time! She'd rather be with our dogs at home than with her mommy and daddy. Hopefully this will change once she gets older. :D
  • On Sunday, she pushed herself into a sitting position, reached up onto the coffee table and pulled herself up. Yesterda, she started to cruise along the side of the table while holding on for dear life. Scary! She's really going to be into EVERYTHING now!

I am so thankful that Jesus has blessed us with this precious little girl. I pray that she will grow to love the Lord, honor Him, and be bold for Him. Even though she will constantly be faced with new things (as she has so far as a baby), I pray that she will be well equipped to deal with the challenges and opportunities in life in a godly way. I pray that Jesus will give Adam and I wisdom as parents as she grows in every season of this life. Friends and family, please pray the same! Thank you so much!
