Today, well technically yesterday, was Adam's birthday. On this day, 28 years ago, Jesus allowed this man to be born. He made him just for me and me for him. "My beloved is mine and I am his." Song of Solomon 2:16a. I am so thankful for days like these when I can stop for a moment and reflect on how amazing my Jesus is. Although I deserve nothing, He gave and continues to give abundantly.
Adam chose to go to Lazy Dog Cafe with, me, my parents, sister, and his best bud/sister's boyfriend, and of course our precious Lily joined us. She started out in her stroller and wasn't there long before she was being held. This time grandpa (my dad) had her. She sat in his lap and began babbling louder than I've ever heard her! The restaurant was loud but the crowd and music were no match for her squeals and giggles. She absolutely cracked us up and was our source of entertainment for the rest of dinner! As everyone at the table watched her and laughed at her joy, I couldn't help but look at her and Adam and be overwhelmingly thankful for my little family. Every now and then, she'd look over at her daddy and give him the hugest smile. It melted my heart. It's hard to explain but when she looks at him, she absolutely adores him. I wonder if it's because her 4 1/2 month self realizes what an amazing man her daddy is? I wonder if she can see how loving, goofy, witty, passionate and honest he is? I wonder if she can sense how much he loves Jesus? I wonder if she can feel how much love he has for us and how he'd break his back to make sure that she and I were taken care of? If she doesn't understand these things now, I know she will soon. I am so excited to celebrate many more of Adam's birthdays with him and our little girl and can't wait to see her come to realize how blessed she is to have a daddy like hers. Happy birthday (yesterday) to the most amazing husband and daddy!
